Druid

Druids oppose the ascendance of the Regents and the spread of great cities across once pristine wilderness. They are appalled by the contempt that many people show for the natural world. The druids despise the very idea of baenrahls, which they view as the ultimate corruption of the spiritual by the Regents.

Perhaps it is because of the many challenges with the civilization built by the Regents over the natural world that druids are so common in the Baenrahl setting. The secretive and elusive Druidic Council recruits its members from rural villages, mercantile caravans, remote outposts, and the wild lands inhabited by the barbarians; anywhere the vigilance of the templars is lax. While most commoners are completely unaware of its existence, the Druidic Council is a influential political force working behind the scenes in the Baenrahl setting.

Templars preach that the secret society of druids is a large conspiracy out to destroy the foundation on which civilization was built, the Regents. They believe the druids long for a time when all people will once again live in some imagined, idyllic harmony with nature. While there are such extreme factions within druidic circles, this is certainly not the druids true position. Druids simply strive to protect nature and explore new ways for civilization and nature to coexist, without the interference of the Regents.

As a result of this conflict, druids are outlawed and hunted by the agents of the regents. They travel the lands spreading the “True Faith,” secreting newborns away from the templars branding, and generally leading the revolt against the regents from the shadows of their forest sanctuaries. Races with close ties to the natural world, such as humans and muirhauts, are most commonly found as druids though any individual seeking to dispose the regents, restore the natural balance, and learn more of the secrets of nature can follow the path.
